Carolyn volunteered for 3-months as a nurse at Chidamoyo in 1996, having met through airmail, at the recommendation of a colleague at NY Hospital. This experience was the catalyst that brought Carolyn into global health; she continues to work with PEFPAR, the US government's international HIV/AIDS program. Carolyn returned to Chidamoyo with her now-husband Russ in 2004, and with her three children in 2015.
